    At SHRM New York State, we believe that exceptional HR professionals and volunteers deserve to be recognized for the impact they make in their workplaces and our communities.  The SHRM NYS Awards program honors the best in the field - those who demonstrate innovation, leadership, and dedication to advancing the profession.

    About the Awards

    The SHRM NYS Human Resources Awards program is an annual celebration of HR excellence across the State of New York.  Through this program, we highlight individuals that embody the highest standards of ethical practice, strategic vision, and commitment to people.  Award categories reflect the diverse contributions HR makes, from talent development and employee engagement to workplace culture, and beyond.

    Who Can Nominate

    Nominations are open to peers, leaders, and HR professionals themselves.  Whether you’re recognizing a colleague, a mentor or your own efforts, we encourage you to share the stories of those making a difference.

    Award Categories

    Chapter Volunteer Leader of the Year Award - recognizes an outstanding chapter volunteer in the state of New York whose unselfish and dedicated service has made a significant impact on the human resources profession and/or professional.

    Dennis Ryan Memorial Volunteer Award - recognizes an individual who best embodies a former life-long volunteer leader and HR professional from the Capital Region of New York who gave of his time, expertise and passion to grow new leaders while advancing the profession.

    Human Resources Professional of the Year Award - recognizes a human resource leader who has advanced the profession in a significant way.

    Nomination Process

    Nominations open in the Spring.  Each submission is reviewed by a team identified by SHRM NYS who evaluate based on measurable impact, leadership qualities, and alignment with the values of SHRM NYS.

    Why It Matters

    Recognition amplifies great work. By celebrating the achievements of HR professionals, we not only honor individuals but also inspire others to raise the bar in advancing people and workplaces.
