New York (1/8/18) – The New York State Society for Human Resource Management (NYS-SHRM) is very pleased to announce the 70 employers that will be honored as part of its 2018 Best Companies to Work for in New York state awards.
The 11th annual Best Companies to Work for in New York list is comprised of companies with operations in New York state, split into three groups: 27 small employers with 15 to 99 U.S. employees, 19 medium employers with 100-249 employees and 24 large employers with 250 or more employees. [A list of honorees is provided at the end of this release.]
In addition, a special publication will profile all 70 winning organizations and their unique employment perks. It will be distributed at the event and sent to higher education institutions and thousands of human resources professionals and organizations across New York State.
Created in 2007, these celebrated annual awards are part of a distinctive program that evaluates and ranks the best places of employment. This statewide survey and awards program is designed to identify, recognize and honor the best places of employment in New York, whose practices benefit the state's businesses, economy, and workforce.
To be considered for participation, organizations had to fulfill specific registration eligibility requirements, then participate in a two-part survey of employee satisfaction and engagement, as well as workplace practices and policies. Best Companies Group, an independent firm that manages Best Places to Work programs on state, regional and national levels around the world, conducted the survey, then evaluated the results and determined the best places of employment in the Empire State.
All 70 winning organizations will be honored at a public awards dinner to be held at the Albany Marriott on Wednesday, April 18, 2018, from 5:45 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. During the event, the companies will learn where they rank among the competitors in their size category.
The 2018 Best Companies to Work for in New York awards a partnership of NYS-SHRM, The Business Council of New York, Best Companies Group and BridgeTower Media.
NYS-SHRM is an affiliate of the national Society for Human Resources Management, the world’s largest association devoted to human resources, serving the needs of and advancing the interests of the HR profession.

Assessment Description
The process includes two surveys to gather detailed data about each participating company. BCG conducts the surveys, analyzes the data and determines the winners and rankings.
Part I – Employer Benefits & Policies Questionnaire: The employer completes an online survey, detailing company policies, practices, benefits and demographics.
Part II – Employee Engagement & Satisfaction Survey: Employees complete a survey of in-depth statements using a scale of five points ranging from “Agree Strongly” to “Disagree Strongly.” The survey also includes seven demographic and two open-ended questions. It can be given online or by paper, if a full company employee email list is not available.
